Helping SMEs To Engage With HR BCL204

Helping SMEs To Engage With HR

On this edition of Business Connections Live Steve Hyland asks Martine Robins, owner of the HR Dept Woking about  the importance of Helping SMEs To Engage With HR.

In 2016, the FSB reported that there were 5.5 million SMEs in the UK, employing 15.7 million people which was 60% of all private sector employment in the UK.  The annual turnover was more than £1.8 trillion! This included 1.3 million employing businesses. How many of those businesses access HR support? If not, then why not?

It can be a question of accessibility and knowing what support is out for SME businesses.  Many business owners are constantly busy, with limited time and resources and may employ people because they have to but hopefully because they see that in doing so means their business will be able to grow.

Business owners may not engage with HR until they have a ‘people problem’ resulting in being out of their comfort zone, lack of knowledge and expertise in successfully dealing with it and the fear of litigation if they get it wrong.

However, working with an HR provider can help them with compliance and best practice approaches across their whole people strategy.  Ensuring that the right people are recruited, fully compliant employment documentation exists, ensuring that processes are in place to bring clarity and structure to the business and peace of mind to the owner.

On this edition of Business Connections Live, Martine will explain:

  • Demystifying what support HR can provide – proactively contributing to the business growth …
  • How to engage effectively with employees
  • How to develop employees so they contribute to the business and add value
  • How does outsourced HR support work?
  • What’s In It For Me – from the business owner’s perspective?

Learn the business fundamentals on how your business can achieve:

  • The right people, in the right place at the right time
  • Engaged and motivated employees add value to the bottom line
  • Communication and frameworks/processes provide clarity that reduces time wasting in the business
